Abstract

Computer simulation studies have shown that two types of left brace 112 right brace twin boundary structure may arise in bcc crystals. This suggests that perfect twinning dislocations, of Burgers vector 1/6 1 bar 1 bar 1 direction, may dissociate into partials in some crystals. This has been confirmed using the computer simulation technique and examples of the resulting core structures of both perfect and partial twinning dislocations are presented and discussed.
